Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) considerations are quickly becoming a central issue for banks, insurers, pension funds and other financial services companies. Climate risk is a major concern drawing the most attention, but other key topics are emerging such as pandemics or biodiversity and ecosystem services. In a fast-evolving and heterogeneous field with marked differences between what individual countries and companies are doing, the initial objective of this working group is to analyze and actively promote the best practices. We will also examine and make proposals related to the role that actuaries play in this area. Finally, we aim to facilitate networking between all members who are either already active in the ESG field or simply interested in learning more about it.
